The MAA GRUHA/Maternity Waiting Home at Mohana under Mohana Block has opened during November -2011 with the partner of Government of Odisha, Department of Health,NHM having a MOU with the district administration Gajapati.
To establish alternative supports infrastructure for addressing communication problem in difficult and inaccessible pockets for ensuring institution delivery.
Here at Mohana Block though there are 39 GPS but some of the GPS are very inaccessible. The very inaccessible GPS namely-Katama, Paniganda, Damadua, Dambaguda, Adava and Karchabadi are attached with Maa Gruha,Mohana to serve the pregnant mothers for their institution delivery. The above GPS are in very inaccessible and they situated in most difficult pockets of Mohana Block.
The Pregnant mothers of targeted areas are motivated by the staffs of Maa Gruha, Mohana, at their door step and at VHND points to stay at Maa Gruha before 10 to 15 days Of their last month of delivery.
The motivated mothers are shifted to Maa Gruha, Mohana and allow them to stay up to delivery. The mothers along with a attendant were provided free food and accommodation with regular health check-up.
The inmates were provided recreation facilities at Maa Gruha like TV, CD player etc.On onset of delivery pain the mothers were shifted to nearest Community Health Center (CHC) at Mohana for their institution delivery.
